A Kapiri Mposhi businessman Brian Kazungo, 25, of Turn-off area has been sentenced to three years in prison with hard labor for drug trafficking.
Magistrate Benny Akende found Kazungo guilty of five counts, including trafficking marijuana and codeine without lawful authority.
Kazungo pleaded guilty to possessing 145.7g of marijuana, 0.2g of codeine, and other substances. He also had instruments for administering drugs. In court, Kazungo asked for leniency, saying he didn’t think through his actions.
Magistrate Akende aimed to send a strong message to potential offenders, stating the sentence would serve as a deterrent.
