Maambo, a peasant farmer, allegedly used a stick to assault Foster Hangoma on the buttocks, causing bodily harm.
She pleaded not guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm but was found guilty based on prosecution evidence.
In mitigation, Maambo broke down and begged for leniency, saying it was her first offence.
Magistrate Benny Akende considered her plea but handed her a suspended sentence 18 months jail time, suspended for 2 years if she doesn’t reoffend. She must also pay K1,000 compensation to Hangoma.
