The National Action for Quality Education in Zambia (NAQEZ) has raised concern over the delayed disbursement of school grants to public schools for the first quarter of 2026.
In a statement issued, NAQEZ executive Director Aaron Chansa said the delay has affected the smooth opening of schools, which reopened on January 12, 2026.
The organisation said it had expected the grants to be released before or at the time of reopening to allow schools to prepare adequately for Term One.
NAQEZ Executive Director Dr. Aaron Chansa adds that public schools had not yet received the operational funds, leading to reports of disorganisation and operational challenges in some schools.
Dr. Chansa emphasized that the timely release of school grants is critical to effective school management, learner welfare, and the delivery of quality education.
