Over 300 Orphans and Vulnerable Children OVC’s in Kapiri Mposhi have received school requisites worth about K378,000 donated by the Zambia Redcross Society sponsored by Japan.
The selected schools that are beneficiaries are namely Lukanda primary school,Kapiri Day secondary school, Matilyo primary school, Mulonga and Mulungushi primary schools.
Zambia Redcross Society Kapiri Mposhi branch president Harry Kapya has pledged the organisation’s commitment to rendering psychological and material support to young learners who are potential future leaders.
Speaking at the 2026 distribution exercise of the essential school materials for the OVC’s held at John Paul School, Mr Kapya disclosed that this project forms a broader scope to enhancing quality education for the vulnerable learners adding that this also compliments government’s development agenda.
And gracing the handover ceremony was Kapiri Mposhi District Commissioner Francis Hasalama who emphasized by cautioning learners to invest their energy and time in acquiring education.
Mr Hasalama further counseled the OVC’s to maximize Christian principles if they are to fully excel in all aspects of their endeavours.
At the same function, District Education Board Secretary representative Mary Masumba called for extended support to rural communities.
Speaking also was the Head of Health and Care department at the Zambia Redcross from Lusaka Heaquarters Ruth Mzizi who elaborated on the OVC project and on its positive impact on vulnerable communities.
