STOLEN STEEL PIPES LEAVE MKUSHI – SERENJE ROAD AT RISK.

The Road Development Agency -RDA- is warning the public about a serious case of vandalism involving an Armco culvert on the Mkushi – Serenje Road.

The damaged structure is located about 25 kilometres from Mkushi Boma Junction towards Serenje.

This is according to a statement issued by RDA Chief Communications and Corporate Affairs Manager ANTHONY MULOWA.

Mr. MULOWA said routine inspections revealed that steel pipes forming part of the culvert have been completely removed.

This has left the crossing unstable and at risk of collapse.

He said the agency is arranging emergency works to secure the affected section and avoid disruption to traffic.

The RDA Chief Communications and Corporate Affairs MANAGER has advised motorists to proceed with care, observe traffic signs and follow instructions from on-site personnel while repairs are in progress.

Mr. MULOWA said vandalising road infrastructure puts lives at risk and could lead to serious injury or death.
