Mr. Musamba promoted Detective Sergeant Ruth Nyambe of the Airports Division and Sergeant Samuel Mbewe of the Kitwe Police Station Traffic Section to the rank of Inspector.
The two officers turned down bribes amounting to USD 50,000 and K20,000 respectively.
Detective Sergeant Nyambe refused a bribe of USD 50,000 offered to her on February 5, 2025, while she was on duty at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport. The suspect was found in possession of USD 2,320,000 (Two Million, Three Hundred and Twenty Thousand United States Dollars) and seven pieces of suspected gold.
Sergeant Mbewe, while on duty along Nyerere Road in Kitwe on February 5, 2025, impounded an unregistered motor vehicle driven by a foreign national. The motorist later offered him a bribe of K20,000, which he declined. Instead, Sergeant Mbewe arrested the offender for violating the country’s road traffic rules and regulations.
In a related development, the Zambia Police Service Integrity Committee scooped second position in the Most Performing Integrity Committee in Government Institutions category during the 2025 Integrity Committee Chief Executive Officers’ Forum held at Mulungushi International Conference Centre on December 23, 2025.
The Secretary to the Cabinet, Mr. Patrick Kangwa, who was represented by his Deputy, Dr. Oliver Kalabo, commended the Zambia Police Service Integrity Committee for appearing among the top ten performers, after ranking ninth out of 266 integrity committees countrywide.
At the same event, individual police officers were also awarded for conducting themselves in a manner that promotes integrity and for creating corruption-free environments.
Inspector Nyambe and Inspector Mbewe received individual recognition awards under the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Director General’s Awards.
The Police Chief further commended the Service Integrity Committee for working tirelessly to instill professionalism and promote integrity within the Zambia Police Service.
