Matero MP Miles Sampa has been granted K1 million bail in his own recognizance after pleading not guilty to a cybercrime charge.
Sampa appeared before Lusaka Principal Magistrate Webster Milumbe, denying allegations of transmitting false information about the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) opening a fake polling station during the Chawama parliamentary by-election.
He was arrested after ECZ complained about his claims.
Sampa did earlier apologize for the utterances.
His lawyer applied for bail, citing Sampa as not a flight risk.
Magistrate Milumbe granted bail with two working sureties from Lusaka.
