Incoming Choma member of parliament, Joe Muchindu celebrated International Women’s Day by sponsoring activities for rural-based women in Choma, providing meals and urging them to form clubs to access empowerment funds.

Speaking at Siamaluba, his former school, Muchindu emphasized the need to treat all women equally, regardless of status or location, and pledged his office’s support.

“We want you as women to be getting CDF-funded contracts and projects here so that you can also benefit as you contribute to the development of our community,” he said.

Muchindu observed that women in rural areas have been neglected for too long and that it is time to change the narrative.

The event aimed to promote women’s empowerment and economic inclusion in Choma’s rural areas.

Muchindu’s efforts were praised by attendees, who welcomed his commitment to supporting women’s development.

Meanwhile, Siamaluba primary school was the center of activities as hundreds of women, men and children gathered for women’s day. Various traditional leaders also attended the event sponsored by Muchindu.

Similar activities were held in other areas courtesy of Muchindu.

The day was characterized by dancing, singing poet and drama as well as speeches from notable people, among them, area Siamaluba village headman who disclosed that residents had already settled for Muchindu as their next member of parliament in the upcoming general elections slated for August 13th, 2026.
