The duo is charged under Section 34 ID (I) (2) (c) (e) of the Penal Code, which outlines consequences for vandalism of public property. They pleaded to the charge before Magistrate Mutete Chizawu.

The accused allegedly vandalized the 315Kilovolt transformer between March 28th and 29th, 2026. Their bail request was objected to, with the Magistrate citing lack of jurisdiction.

The case was adjourned to May 21st, 2026, for mention and possible committal, with the accused remanded in police custody.
And a ZESCO Prosecutor Prisca Lisa Mwanza sought an adjournment, citing the need for committal from the DPP’s office.
